2000 Trees 2014: Ben Marwood

Ben Marwood

Reading based Marwood is the first of the Olympic representatives on the bill, this could be burgeoned further by a few other Trees’ favourites being added to the bill but let’s not jinx anything. He was a member of Frank Turner’s generously extended backing band, if you can remember that far back.

With a penchant, as well as remarkable talent for storytelling you have to go way back to find a year when he wasn’t playing the festival. He’s been in the game for over 10 years and it’s hard to go that long without some sweet tunes to back you up, you can find some of these below.

More often than not it’s just him and a guitar which is always pretty brave, but with a good ear for melody and happy to go against the more conventional methods of playing he tends to win audiences over pretty quickly and once people have seen him they keep going back for more.

I believe I mentioned he was on tour with the retrospective soundtrack players? Here are the dates-
