Dear Euphoria

Dear Euphoria

When I first heard Elina Johansson’s Dear Euphoria, I had the most painful ear infection, I could barely listen to any noise and yet I couldn’t resist music. Going to two festivals with this condition may not have helped but Dear Euphoria was exacrly what I needed.

The dreamy percussive and sparse style of the music carries the lush vocalisation into the realm of dream pop but with the difference that this is really quite dark and sceptical of the usual areas most wilfully allude to. Think Polly Scattergood when she’s having a really, really bad day and decides to write the bleakest, most beautiful songs to tear through even the strongest will.
