Matthew and the arrogant sea/Scroobius Pip/Jupiter One

‘ello! Sorry for not posting for a few days. This is mainly because I wanted to give all the time and effort I put into the sxsw post the daylight it deserved. Nothing more than that though, it’s time to move on! Well unless you haven’t downloaded it yet, then go and get it and theeen move on with your life for pity’s sake!

The indie rock playlist is out now too so grab that here.

Once again thankyou for everyone who is so nice all the time it makes doing all the listening and writing for everything a lot easier than it could be!

I’m one of those people that the second the sun even thinks about coming out that’s it, winter’s done with and good times are ahead and to celebrate spring gig season followed by the inevitable summer festival season here are a few wonderful tracks i’ve been listening to the last week to get you in the mood. And also as thanks for reading (:

Matthew and the Arrogant SeaPretty Purple Top Hat

With Alice in wonderland in the theatre’s it’s quite appropriate that i’ve been liking this acid trip of a track with lyrics like “you were wearing quite a number at the martian petting zoo, eating purple coloured peanuts from my hippo sized balloon” the music is sleepy and dreamy fitting perfectly with its mid-summer feel. Gorgeous.

Jupiter OneVolcano

I don’t quite understand how people don’t see how amazing this track is! The first verse starts off “Put my hand on a mountain, pulled the top right off- I made a new volcano roar! I could never do this before!” oh, it’s quite brilliant yes. The track is in the elated mood of the rest of the brilliant sunshowers album and the bass line is so funky, forget about it!

Dan Le Sac -v- Scroobius PipThou Shalt Always Kill

Scroobius Pip’s unshakeable belief and progressive attitude towards spoken word is inspiring. So inspiring in fact I’ve started writing backdrops to every song I’ve written, there’s 70 but man it gives them meat. This is scroobius pip doing what he does best; providing social commentary to the lost generation. “Thou shalt not think that any male over the age of 30 that plays with a child that is not their own is a peadophile… Some people are just nice.” “Thou shalt not stop liking a band just because they’ve become popular” “Thou shalt not use poetry, art or music to get into girls’ pants. Use it to get into their heads.” “Thou shalt not read NME.” I unsubscribed to it this week after complaining for about a year that it was garbage (:

I’ll do a similar post to this tomorrow as there’s wway more that i’d love people to hear that they may not have.

Then next up is my non-commercial non-treating the public as one big cash cow festival guide!
